Beer Challenge Results

All right, ladies and gentlemen!

I know it has been a long wait, but your Humble Commissioner just finished building 18 houses in 2 weeks and has been a little busy. I apologize for my tardiness, but, here are your results!

The winner of the 51 Beer Challenge is Michael Geier, with 52 points! He drank 35 beers total.
In second place is Tim Geier, with 41 points and 31 beers.
Third place is a tie between Randy Gillespie and Kristin Branch, with 38 points each. Randy drank 29 beers and Kristin drank 28.

The prize for most non-unique beers goes to Randy Gillespie, with 22.

The spreadsheet with points can be seen here.
The spreadsheet listing all beers can be seen here.

A few notes -- Rose Edwards reported her beers after the midnight deadline, so they have been listed but not counted for points. Also, I tried to catch any misreported brewing states, but was not necessarily entirely thorough. Any complaints can be sent to your commissioner.

Photos have been uploaded to a Picasa account and (mostly) tagged by location, so you can look at a Google map with pictures of your beers in the state in which they were brewed. Those are available here.

Thanks again for your patience. I hope you all had fun exploring the world of American brewing, and that you will enjoy seeing what your fellow participants drank as well!

Beer Challenge -- 3 hours, 29 minutes remaining!

Greetings, beer drinkers!

We are SO CLOSE to the end of the 51 Beer Challenge! It's an exciting final day, with entries coming in like crazy. I just wanted to warn you all that your results will not be available precisely at midnight -- your humble Commissioner will need some time to calculate final point scores. Stay tuned for the final tally!

Always,
Commish

Beer Challenge, T minus 17.8 Days to finish!

Good morning, drinkers!

We are approaching the end of the contest, and only one person has more than half of the states completed! That's AJ, who remains our frontrunner with 27 beers. Tim is close(ish) behind with 23, but is gaining fast.

Honorable mentions at this point can be extended to Kristin, Randy, Bridget, Michael, and Peter, who are all solid at 13-18 beers apiece.

There are still several states with not a single beer reported.

Keep drinking, guys!

Beer Challenge, Day ... 48?

Greetings!

After a small hiatus, your Commissioner has the following updates to report:

-Many states have not had a single beer reported from them: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, DC, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Tennessee. Looks like whoever takes a trip through the southeast this Spring is going to take the competition!

-Adam Fisher, Bridget Ray, Eric Bal, and Molly Dausch have yet to report any beers in this competition.

-Of the rest of you, AJ is still holding strong in the lead with 22 beers. He's followed closely by Tim and Michael, who each have 18; Kristen has 13; Peter and Randy each have 12; then we have Kurt with 7, Dan with 6, Joel and Justin with 3, and Tania bringing up the rear with one solitary beer.

We're at the halfway point here, folks -- you're going to have to step it up if you hope to complete the challenge!

As always,
Your Humble Commissioner

(By the way -- your Commissioner is not Tim Geier. I promise.)

Beer Challenge, Day 20

Dearest Drinkers,

It's been a packed 5 days! We've had our first duplication of beers, our first state origin confusion, and our first beer rejection! Your commissioner has been busy researching. I also have updated the beer entry form to require entries to list the brewing company as well as the beer name, which should make things a little clearer all around.

This week saw a major upset in the game -- AJ reported 17 beers, making him the leader by far in this competition at this point! What will happen next? All I can say is...keep drinking!

Yours Always,
Your Humble Commissioner

Beer Challenge, Day 8

Salutations, Drinkers!

Your Humble Commissioner has been on vacation and unexpectedly without internet, so updates might not have been as swift as you hoped for the past few days. However, all is back to normal and should be complete and updated now!

Kurt is ahead with 5 states, followed by Peter with 4. It's a tight race! Keep sending in those beers. And trust me, you will want to send in pictures too!

Always,
the Commish
